The Philippine National Police has charged four suspected members of the rebel New People’s Army in Guihulngan, Negros Oriental after they were captured by Scout Rangers of the Philippine Army during an encounter last weekend.
Brig. Gen. Francisco Patrimonio, commander of the 302nd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army in Tanjay, Negros Oriental identified the four suspects as Ricardo Seniagan, 37 years old of Linantuyan and Thomas Carello Isugan alias Jamis, 19, of Barangay Buenavista all in Guihulngan City, Jessie Gamay Bongcawil, 19, of Barangay Nasunogan, La Libertad, Negros Oriental; and Dandy Manuling Pemerin alias Daniel, 18 years old, of La Castellana, Negros Occidental.
The four were captured after they were allegedly abandoned by their comrades during a clash last Friday at Sitio Cansayawan in Barangay Linantuyan, Guihulngan at the boundary of Barangay Plagatasanon.

The encounter took place around 12:50 p.m. with the suspected insurgents dividing themselves into two groups, said Brig. Gen. Patrimonio.
The suspect rebels, who were reportedly left behind by their companions, were captured by pursuing Scout Rangers.
An M-14 armalite was recovered from one of them.
The suspects were turned over to the Guihulngan police who filed appropriate charges against them, to include illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, among others.
Brig. Gen. Patrimonio said Army troops continue with their relentless combat operations with Philippine Air Force helicopters on standby, ready to deploy when warranted.
