From the Zamboanga Today (May 4): Abu Sayyaf gunmen abduct 2 men in Sulu

Eight masked men armed with firearms seized a cement mixer truck driver and his buddy at the vicinity of Baunoh, Butong, Kilometer 5, Barangay Latih, Patikul Municupality, Sulu Province yesterday.

Sulu Police Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Antonio Freyra told Zamboanga Today that Awan Usaman, 30, and Boy Nunung, 32, were forcibly abducted by eigth armed men, believed to be members of the dread abu sayyaf group (ASG).

Another report received showed that the ASG was led by sub commander Basaron Ninok Safari operating in the areas of latih, Patikul.

Based on the report, the victims were in a local company managed by a certain Engineer Tabanilang.

Police said that no further details is available regarding the incident.

Last April 20, 2013, a panciteria and resto owner, Reynato Yanga, 53, was abducted in Poblacion Jolo, Sulu by unidentified armed group while opening his establishment for business located at Walled City, Jolo, Sulu.

As of the press time, no words coming from the authorities as to the status of the latest abduction in Sulu.
