Seventeen (17) unlicensed weapons were voluntarily surrendered to 33IB, 6ID, PA, as a joint effort of the unit together with 6IB, 6ID, PA, Police Provincial Office of Maguindanao del Sur and the LGU of Mamasapano headed by Municipal Mayor, Hon. Datu Akmad “Butch” A. Ampatuan Jr. and with the cooperation of 14 Barangay Chairmen and the community of Mamasapano last July 21, 2023.
The firearms were formally presented to BGEN ORIEL L PANGCOG PA, Commander of 601st Brigade. Present during the turn-over of 17 loose firearms were Hon. Datu Akmad A. Ampatuan Jr., Municipal Mayor, Hon Tahirodin Benzar Ampatuan, Municipal vice-mayor, Datu Andal Ampatuan III, Municipal Admin Officer, PCOL ROEL R SERMESE, Provincial Director, MAGPPO, LTC UDGIE C VILLAN INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, 33IB, LGU Officials of Mamasapano, 14 Barangay Chairperson of Mamasapano, other officers from 33IB and 6IB and from the PNP.
Among the surrendered firearms were 2 improvised Barrette Cal.50 sniper rifle (HM), 4 improvised Cal. 30 sniper rifle (HM), 1 improvised 12-Gauge Shotgun (HM), 2 Grenade Launcher 40mm M203 (HM), 1 improvised RPG tube (HM), 3 improvised SMG 9mm Uzi (HM), 2-60mm Mortar (HM) and 2 Cal. 45mm Pistol (HM).
The surrender of said loose firearms is a joint effort of the Philippine Army, PNP and local government unit of Mamasapano to encourage the community to promote peace and for the development of their respective community.
The 33rd Infantry (Makabayan) Battalion will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of our people.
