IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay Province, July 24, 2023 - In a remarkable display of commitment towards lasting peace and cooperation, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the Zamboanga Peninsula (ZamPen) joined hands with leaders from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in an unprecedented activity focused on establishing harmonious relationships and fostering collaborative engagement.

The primary objective of this landmark activity was to strengthen ties between the AFP-PNP and MILF-MNLF leaders, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration to ensure stability and peace in the Zamboanga Peninsula. The activity is in line with President Bongbong Marcos' call for soldiers to become agents of peace and unity.

During the event, Lieutenant Colonel Jimmy Sanz, Executive Officer of 102nd Infantry "Igsoon" Brigade cordially welcomed all the esteemed participants, highlighting the significance of their presence in the pursuit of a shared vision of peace and prosperity.

Commanding Officer of the 1st Civil-Military Operations (CMO) Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Abdurasad Sirajan, took the stage to introduce the distinguished participants from both the MILF and MNLF, as well as the PNP Provincial Directors, signifying the inclusive nature of the initiative.

Following the inspiring messages from the MILF and MNLF leaders, the PNP Provincial Directors stepped forward to extend their gratitude and assurance of full cooperation in promoting peace and order throughout the region.

A pivotal moment in the activity was the signing of a peace commitment board, symbolizing the collective dedication to fostering understanding, reconciliation, and peaceful coexistence between all parties involved.

In his address to the participants, Brigadier General Elmer B Suderio, Commander of the 102nd Infantry Brigade, expressed his deep appreciation for the meaningful engagement and underscored the vital role that such initiatives play in maintaining lasting peace in Zamboanga Peninsula.

"Today's activity marks a significant milestone in our journey towards genuine peace and unity. We are grateful to witness the spirit of cooperation and understanding demonstrated by all the leaders present here.
