Troops from 59th Infantry “Protector” Battalion acted on the information and conducted combat operation at Brgy Humayingan Lian, Batangas after a former NPA leader revealed that arms cache was hidden in the area. Among the items recovered by the troops were: one Improvised Explosive Device, 39 pcs of 5.56 ammunition, one small telescope and some personal belongings.

Former NPA leads to additional discovery of arms cache in Batangas

CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal- Another information from apprehended NPA leader has led to additional discovery of arms cache in Lian Batangas on Sunday, April 30, 2023.

Troops from 59th Infantry “Protector” Battalion acted on the information and conducted combat operation at Brgy Humayingan Lian, Batangas after a former NPA leader revealed that arms cache was hidden in the area. Among the items recovered by the troops were: one Improvised Explosive Device, 39 pcs of 5.56 ammunition, one small telescope and some personal belongings.

It can be recalled that on March, alias Sayko, was arrested by the government forces during an operation and tipped-off secluded IED’s and landmines in some parts of Batangas on April on the location of explosives purposely hidden by the rebels for their raid last January.

“We are grateful for the trust of our kababayans towards the LGUs, key stakeholders and security partners in the government’s peace efforts. We have prevented the Communist Terrorist Groups in using the IEDs and other war materials to sow terror in our communities. We urge the remaining rebels to return to the folds of the law and heed the call for peace, and work with the government for the future of their families.”, 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division Commander Maj. General Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement.
