FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija — The Commander of the 7th Infantry (KAUGNAY) Division, Philippine Army, Major General Andrew D. Costelo PA reminded the troops of the 701st Infantry (KAGITINGAN) Brigade and its line units to focus on the accomplishment in the campaign objectives of the Philippine Army and to secure the conduct of the local and national elections during his visit at its headquarters in Sitio Magay, Barangay Don Martin Marundan, Mati City, Davao Oriental on January 31, 2022.

Colonel Edgar R. Delos Reyes, Deputy Brigade Commander of 701st Infantry (KAGITINGAN) Brigade, accorded an Arrival Honor to MGen Costelo together with BGen Romulo A. Manuel Jr. PA, Commander of Artillery Regiment, Philippine Army during the welcome ceremony.

Apart from 701st Brigade, the Commander also visited the headquarters of the 3rd Infantry (REGARDLESS OF WHAT) Battalion, 48th Infantry (GUARDIANS) Battalion, and 56th Infantry (TATAG) Battalion, Philippine Army — which are under the operational control of 10th Infantry Division in Mindanao.

In his Talk to Troops, MGen Costelo cited the accomplishments of the Mindanao-based units for the dismantling of the Guerrilla Front Units of the Communist Terrorist Groups reiterates his order to remain focused on the campaign objectives of the Philippine Army and that is to end the local communist insurgency before President Rodrigo Duterte step down from his office in June 2022.

Also, he reminded all troops to be always on alert for the conduct of their security operations concerning the conduct of the national and local elections in May 2022.

Relatedly, in support of the campaign of the Philippine Army, the 7ID relocates the 3rd Infantry Battalion to Samar Island under the Operational Control of 8th Infantry (STORMTROOPERS) Division in Eastern Visayas; and 81st Infantry (SPARTAN) Battalion in Bicol Region, under the Operational Control of 9th Infantry (SPEAR) Division.
