CAMP GERONA, Murcia, Negros Occidental – eleven (11) former rebels, who have surrendered to the government, have received a livelihood settlement grant (LSG) worth P20,000 each this year under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) held at Old Market, Brgy Poblacion, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental on December 10, 2021. (Friday)

The assistance was based on Executive Order No. 70 series of 2018 entitled “Institutionalizing the Whole-of-Nation Approach in Attaining Inclusive and Sustainable Peace, Creating a National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, and Directing the Adoption of a National Peace Framework.”

The event was graced by Captain Mervin Rosal, 303rd Brigade Civil-Military Operatons Officer together with 2nd Lieutenant Mary Liza Joy De Guzman, CMO Officer of 62IB; Police Lt Colonel Roland Lavisto, Acting Chief of Police, Guihulngan City; Ms Gianne Marie Mijares, Head, City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and Ms Maria Rossana Critico, DSWD Provincial Coordinator.

Brigadier General Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Brigade Commander said in a message that the 11 former rebels were from Guihulngan City, certified by the Joint AFP-PNP Intelligence Committee (JAPIC) clearance and properly endorsed to the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP). “The Government is sincere in helping our brothers and sisters, who were victims of the lies and deceptions of Communist NPA Terrorists, to start a better life once they return to the folds of law.”

“To all the members of NPA Terrorist Group, it is time to lay down your firearms, return to your family and live a peaceful life in the mainstream society. The government has laid down programs for you to start anew. Or else, the security forces will use all its might to hunt you down” BGen Pasaporte added.
