While the troops were approaching barangay Dy-Abra, Tumauni in the morning of October 30, 2021, they were fired upon by the CTGs and the firefight ensued that lasted for about 10 minutes. After which, the enemy scampered to different directions to evade the advancing government troops.

LtCol Joseph C Flores, Battalion Commander of 86IB said that the CTGs are adding to the burden of the farmers and the communities in far-flung areas.

While BGen Danilo Benavides, Commander of 502nd Infantry Brigade urged the remaining members of the terrorist group to lay down their firearms and return to folds of the law.

Further, MGen Laurence E Mina, Commander of 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army lauded the efforts of the troops in protecting the communities from the abuses of the CTG. “The recovery of the firearms and explosives saved not just the lives of the government troops, but also of the unwary innocent civilians.
