Posted to Kalinaw News (Oct 13, 2021): Government Breaks Ground for “Road to Peace” Project in Patikul

October 13, 2021, Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista Jolo, Sulu – Yesterday, a groundbreaking ceremony for concreting of Sitio Tambang – Minjay – Sinumaan road was held at Tambang Covered Court, Brgy Kabbon Takas, Patikul, Sulu.

Facilitated by the Patikul Municipal Task Force in Ending Local Armed Conflict (MTF-ELAC), Ministry of Public Works – Sulu and 11th Infantry Division (11ID), the road to peace will connect Sitio Tambang and Sitio Minjay of Brgy Kabbon Takas to Brgy Lower Sinumaan, all of Patikul.

To recall, Brgy Kabbon Takas was the ground zero of several skirmishes between the government forces and violent extremist group Abu Sayyaf. On November 20, 2020, MTF-ELAC brought home the internally displaced people (IDP) of the aforementioned town following 11ID’s successive gains of the campaign for peace.

Hon Ahajuli Ahajani, Brgy Chairman of Brgy Kabbon Takas expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the continuous support given to their town.

Last August, Sulu Task Force ELAC turned over infrastructure projects to the mentioned streetlights and covered court to the residents of Brgy Kabbon Takas. Moreover, the former IDPs became beneficiaries of Special Area for Agricultural Development Program of the Department of Agriculture empowering the locals to manage a poultry farm.

For his part, Joint Task Force – Sulu and 11ID Commander MGen William N Gonzales pledged the full commitment of the military for an inclusive and sustainable economic devolepment.

The event was also graced by Patikul Mayor Kabir E Hayudini, Sulu 1st District Engineer Patikul Engr Ajan S Ajijul, 11ID Assistant Division Commander BGen Antonio I Bautista Jr, 1103rd Infantry Brigade Commander BGen Benjamin G Batara Jr and 6th Special Forces Battalion Commander Ltc Rafael P Caido.
