SANTO TOMAS, DAVAO DEL NORTE – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) XI in collaboration with the 89th Infantry (MAKATAO) Battalion led by Major Jershome O. Butt with Master Sergeant Julito D. Postre conducted food packs distribution to more or less 70 households held at Brgy Salvacion, Sto Tomas, DDN on October 18, 2021.
The beneficiaries were Indigenous People (IP) from Sitio Misulong, Brgy Sto Niño, Talaingod, DDN who were temporarily residing in shanties alongside the provincial road in Sto Tomas. Said IPs found shelter for the meantime while gleaning the leftover rice harvest in the area to support their basic needs.
This endeavor is in relation to Executive Order No.70 which is the institutionalization of the Whole-of-Nation Approach wherein basic services should be delivered to this vulnerable sector in order to address their issues and concerns so that it will no longer be used by the communist terrorist group and left-leaning organizations in the area as propaganda against the government.
