Moreover, the Mayor emphasized that the said BDP is a part of the NTF-ELCAC campaign. He is also of high hopes that local communist armed conflict in Escalante City shall stop and finally come to an end because he believes in the importance of life. He also expressed his admiration towards the efforts of the national government and the Philippine Army in their commitment and resolve to end communist insurgency in the country.

“The Philippine Army has changed a lot. They are so much more professional now and very kind. Their conscience is pure that they cannot hurt people, not even a single ant, so what’s the point of all these conflicts? The government is here, you can always reach out to anyone us and so with my office. If you have any concerns, you are always welcome and I assure to give you any help I can, especially if it is for your children’s future,” said Hon. Yap.

The Commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade, BGen Inocencio I Pasaporte PA, was also present in the activity. In his speech, he congratulated everyone involved in facilitating and preparing all the challenging documents and requirements for this project.

“I know there were tons of requirements for this project to push through and I congratulate everyone who are involved in this project. There are 14 areas here in North Negros but we focused more here in Escalante because we would like to change the image of the city. Before, this is the center of insurgency but we saw the hope for change. Since the beginning of this project, the Army was there and I can say that this project opens huge opportunities to everyone. It provides faster and better access to nearby Barangays and for the local farmers to be able to deliver their produce directly to the market”, said BGen Pasaporte.

The activity was culminated by a closing remarks from Hon. Merlyn Patigas, Kagawad of Brgy. Alimango. She, likewise, expressed her thanks to everyone who made the project possible. Also, she reminded all the residents present to take care of the concrete road that was granted to them because it will be very beneficial for the livelihood of the people and it will make their transportation more easier especially to the students going to school.

Brgy. Alimango is one (1) of the 14 CTG-cleared Barangays in Escalante City and a recipient of the P20million development fund from the LGSF-BDP of the NTF-ELCAC.
