MAKILALA, COTABATO – Three New People’s Army (NPA) members believed to be remnants of Guerrilla Front (GF) ALIP, Far South Mindanao Regional Committee (FSMRC) returned to the folds of the law in Davao del Sur at 7:00 p.m., August 16, 2021.

AKA Boyet 55 years old, AKA Bongcayaw 51 years old, and AKA Sonny Boy, 32 years old all residents of Purok 6, Brgy San Miguel, Magsaysay, Davao del Sur submitted themselves to Magsaysay Municipal Task Force on Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict. The surrendered personalities were the courier, organizer, and Special Partisan Unit (SPARU) of the GF ALIP, FSMRC.

These NPA members turned over one (1) homemade carbine with SN: 1779969, one (1) homemade cal 45 pistol, two (2) homemade UZI pistol, one (1) homemade 12 gauge, two (2) hand grenades, five (5) magazines, four (4) 9mm ammunition, two (2) 12 gauge ammunition, and one (1) 30mm ammunition.

The successful surrender of the three (3) was facilitated by the LGU of Magsaysay in coordination with the 39th Infantry Battalion, 1002nd Brigade, 10th Infantry Division, Philippine Army.

During their initial debriefing, the three disclosed that they turned in due to the collapse of mass base support and fear brought about by the barangay visitations of the Community Development Teams, continuous conduct of Community Support Programs, and unending government interventions in the area.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Ezra Balagtey, Commander of 39IB expressed his appreciation for the intervention of different agencies in attaining peaceful communities.

“We are thankful to the different interventions of different agencies in establishing peaceful communities, these interventions render their propaganda irrelevant that led to the collapse of their mass base and we hope that this will lead to the surrender of the remnants of the armed group,” Balagtey said

The surrenderers are now undergoing debriefing and need assessment for their enrollment to E-CLIP.
