The first part of the activity was the tree planting initiated by Dir. Mangelen and his staff held at Barangay Pangao-an. The second part was steered thru series of the message of support and partnership coming from the different heads of various Government Agencies and subsequently the Ceremonial Toasting of Milk and Ceremonial Distribution of the Interventions. Among the interventions were 100 bags of Urea; 50 bags of GM Hybrid Corn Seeds (9kls/bag); 50 bags of OPV White corn seeds (18kls/bag); 50 bags of Complete fertilizer; 50 sachet of Pheromone; 50 boxes of Rodenticide (100packs/box); 50 bottles of insecticide; 200 packs of vegetable seeds (pinakbet); 5 sets of Garden Tools; 300 pcs of Assorted Fruit Trees; 6 heads of sheep; 10 heads of ducks; 24 bots of Foliar Fertilizer; 5 heads of upgraded goats from SAAD; 27 heads of upgraded goats from 4KS; 3 unit incubator; 30 pcs coconut hybrid seedlings; 200 bottles of cold milk; and 150 food packs. Before the said activity, it can be recalled that DA conducted vegetable training and food processing last August 27, 2021, to 34 participants, 2 representatives each PO.
“This pandemic will never hinder us to reach out and facilitate training needed for all of you to be equipped with essential knowledge and skills in enhancing your livelihood projects. We, the Department of Agriculture will never be tired supporting you in achieving our endeavor to have a just and lasting peace not just in Magpet, but in the whole Region 12.” Dir. Mangelen said in his message. He commended the LGU and Army for their exceptional dedication in serving the people of Magpet.
In response, Brigadier General Potenciano C Camba, PA, Commander 1002Bde also expressed his gratitude to the Department of Agriculture for extending their hands and giving their best effort to facilitate the delivery of services to enhance the living conditions of the POs within the unit’s Area of Operations. “With the help of the LGU, rest assured that your Army will continue to perform its mandated duty in protecting the peace and order in your Municipality. We strongly urge every one of you to support our Government in its goal to eradicate our more than five (5) decades struggle against insurgency,” he ended.
As the Municipal Mayor of Magpet, Hon. Florenito T Gonzaga lauded everyone who made the activity possible and successful. “I am very thankful for your cooperation in our realization of achieving a peaceful and conflict-resilient municipality. Rest assured that the Local Government of Magpet will provide interventions for all of you to uplift your living conditions. We’ve made it this far. Now, our Municipality is clear from any CTGs affectations. Let us maintain what we have started and continue the fight in achieving the lasting peace we all long for. USWAG MAGPET!” He ended.
Before the realization of the said activity, it can be recalled that DA conducted livelihood training particularly vegetable training and food processing. The success of the said training was demonstrated by the participants by bringing with them the sample products which were made by each PO. Some of these were Banana Chips, Pinasugbo, Banana Ketchup, and Banana Cake. Due to its success, DA promised that they will strengthen their collaboration with other Government Agencies to provide sufficient equipment to the POs to continue the good start and sustain their livelihoods.
