From Panay News (Sep 17, 2021): Captured NPA leader has pending warrants (BY DOMINIQUE GABRIEL BAÑAGA)
The police station in Ilog, Negros Occidental confirmed that the captured New People’s Army (NPA) leader in Barangay Tabu had pending arrest warrants.Police Captain Thurslie Castillo, acting police chief of Ilog, said Nilda Bertulano, secretary of the NPA’s South West Front in Negros, was wanted for multiple counts of frustrated murder and murder.
Slain rebel Christian Vargas was also wanted for multiple murder, Castillo said.
He also confirmed that the three individuals earlier held for questioning were freed for lack of evidence.
Meanwhile, Ka Bayani Obrero, spokesperson of the National Democratic Front in Negros, hoped that government forces will respect the rights of the NPA insurgents killed, wounded or captured in Tuesday’s gun battle.
Obrero said they fear for the safety of the captured and wounded NPA members.
