Four alleged members of the New People’s Army in Negros Oriental have abandoned the armed struggle and surrendered two firearms, Lt. Col. Roderick Salayo, 11th Infantry Battalion commander, said.

Salayo
identified the rebel surrenderees as Ka Jango and Jay, both members of the Regional Strike Force, Komiteng Rehiyonal-Negros/Cebu/ Bohol/Siquijor, alias Ka Rodel, vice-squad leader of Squad 3, Central Negros Front 2, and alias Pong, squad leader of the remnants of South East Front that had been dismantled last year.

Pong and Rodel also surrendered two .45 caliber pistols with 28 live ammunition to the 11IB.


Salayo said the four confessed having a hard time hiding in the mountains without any support from the masses.

He added that the four rebels will be enrolled in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration of the government to avail of financial and livelihood assistance.
