Alleged NPA leader killed in Bataan clash

From the Manila Times (Jun 29, 2021): Alleged NPA leader killed in Bataan clash (By Dempsey Reyes)

An alleged leader of the New People's Army (NPA) died after soldiers and elite policemen engaged the rebels in a clash in Dinalupihan, Bataan, the military said on Monday.

The Philippine Army's 7th Infantry Division, which covers Central Luzon,
identified the leader as a certain "Boy" or "Randy," whom authorities said was the vice commander of NPA rebels based in Bataan province.

Authorities received reports about presence of armed persons at Sitio Pintong Bakal, Barangay Pinulot of Dinalupihan from residents.

This prompted government forces from the Army's 70th Infantry Battalion and the Philippine National Police's Special Action Force to conduct operations, which led to exchange of gunfire last Saturday. Authorities only reported the incident on Monday.

The military could not determine how long the clash was. However, they said no casualty was reported on the side of the security forces.
