BALER, Aurora – The 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion (91IB), 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division Philippine Army conducted Indigenous People Youth Awareness Program (IPYAP) in order to gained knowledge on tribal rights held in Dinalungan, Aurora on June 25, 2021.

According to Lt. Col. Reandrew P. Rubio, Commander 91IB, 50 tribal youth participated in the activity. It aims to bring the message of hope from the government through the whole of nation approach.

“We are committed to bring hope to our IPs, informing them that the government is here to assist and help them. We inform their basic rights and make sure they’re included in the development process, so they have the opportunity to live safer, healthier, and more prosperous lives,” Lt. Col. Rubio said.

The topics discussed during the activity were the executive order EO70, illegal drugs, social and environmental issues, teenage pregnancy, STD, HIV, AFP recruitment and among others.

The activity was attended by Richard R. Duaso, served as guest speaker- representative of Mayor Manuel A. Torres; Forester Rachelle M. Robert-Municipal environment and natural resources (MENRO); SK Federation President Dinalungan Lorraine Joy M. Castillo, SK Chairman of Barangay Simbahan Vinsor P. Talicuad; Dinalungan Municipal Police Station Police Staff Sergeant Oliver M. Flores; Municipal health office Mederia Fatima R. Asiso;, Municipal social welfare and development office (MSWDO) Eva R. Rada.

The IPYAP was participated by 11 Students IP Youth from Barangay Nipoo, 13 Students IP Youth from Barangay Paleg, 7 students from Barangay Abuleg, 10 Students IP Youth from Barangay Simbahan, 4 Students IP Youth from Barangay Poblacion 1 and 5 IP Youth from Barangay Poblacion 2, all in Dinalungan, Aurora.
