BALER, Aurora- 5 former members of terrorist CPP-NPA and 4 supporters from local populace in Nueva Ecija have surrendered to authorities and yielded their firearms on May 6, 2021.

Lt. Col. Reandrew P. Rubio, commander of 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion, 7th Infantry Division, Philippine Army and Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office led by Police Col. Jaime O Santos and other government troops jointly facilitated the surrender of 5 lie-low CPP-NPA-Terrorists (CNTs) and withdrawal of support of four 4 local populace to CTGs and Sectoral Front Organizations (SFOs) at Barangay Tugatog, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija. One M16 rifle, two 2 Home Made Shotguns, 1 Cal. 45mm pistol, and a Cal. 38mm pistol were also surrendered.

Lt. Col. Rubio said that the successful operation was in line with the effective implementation of Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF ELCAC) with the support of 703rd Agila Brigade, Brigadier General Andrew D. Costelo, together with Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (NEPPO) Provincial Director Police Colonel Jaime O. Santos, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company Police Lt. Col. Alexander C. Aurelio, Bongabon Municipal Police Station and other security forces. “The mass surrender manifests good investment return. We strewed much efforts, hence, we reap splendid achievements. With this, we are even more motivated to work harder. We assure the public that the 91st Infantry (SINAGTALA) Battalion, 7th Infantry (KAUGNAY) Division, Philippine Army in collaboration with the PNP won’t stop chasing these insurgents until we completely annihilate their forces to prevent them from sowing terroristic activities in our area of operations.”

After the activity, it was followed by a Pledge of Support to the government and burning of NPA flag. The returnees are undergoing debriefing and processing of possible government benefits under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
The 91IB also facilitated the NHA housing assistance to the former rebels and supporters.

Lt. Col. Rubio also noted that the 91st IB welcomes CPP-NPA-NDF members who wanted to return to the fold of the law and live peacefully.
