GPH-MILF CCCH-AHJAG LEADS THE JOINT PEACE ADVOCACY IN ZAMBO SIBUGAY
 
IPIL,ZSP - The joint Coordinating Committee on the Cessation for Hostilities (CCCH) and Ad Hoc Joint Action Group (AHJAG) of the Goverment of the Philippines (GPH) and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) led the conduct of Joint Peace Advocacy in Barangay Datu Tumanggong, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay last March 2, 2021.
 
The Joint Peace Advocacy was organized to respond to the request of the members of the MILF for the conduct of special COMELEC registration for the MILF community in Datu Tumanggog, with the intent to exercise their rights to vote in the future.
 
Brig. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete, Chairman, GPH-CCCH and the Deputy Commander, Western Mindanao Command expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and the full support and commitment of the MILF members in the tranformation process to live normal lives as Filipinos.
 
"We have talked with the Comission on Elections (COMELEC) and the local government unit (LGU) to assist us in this endeavor as we continue to follow the mechanims until such time that we have achieved the full normalization process," said Brig. Gen. Nafarrete.
 
Meanwhile, Atty. Wilfred Jay Balisado, Regional Director, COMELEC IX assured the MILF community in Tungawan for their full cooperation.
 
"Being a registered voter is one step for us to be closer to the government and be part of the government," said Atty. Balisado.
 
During the peace advocacy, Mr Malik Caril , Member, MILF-CCCH discussed the current status and updates of the ongoing decomissioning efforts and the path to normalization of the MILF members outside the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
 
For his part, Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicolas, Commander, 102nd Infantry Brigade expressed his gratutide for the support and assistance of MILF leaders in Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte in the rescue of Rex Triplitt last December 2020.
 
"Let us continue to strenghten our communication and relationships as partners for peace as we continue to promote development in your communities and transform as productive members of the society," Brig. Gen. Nicolas said.
 
"Just like how you have opened your doors to us, I am also opening the doors of the 102nd Infantry Brigade," Brig. Gen. Nicolas added.
 
MILF 113rd Base Command Commander, Suab Idris, enjoined his former comrades to continue to support the peace agreement with the government.
 
"Today, we have all witnessed the commitment of the GPH and MILF in the peace process, so let us continue to support the government efforts as we rebuild our communities, not for us, but for our children and grandchildren," said Idris.
 
Also present during the activity were P/Brig. Gen. Erson Digal, Chairman, GPH-AHJAG; Hon. Carlnan Climaco, Municipal Mayor; P/Col. Albert Larubis, Provincial Director, ZBPPO; Lt. Col. Peter Garcienego Jr, Commanding Officer, 42IB and MILF local leaders from Zamboanga Peninsula.
