CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Government forces from 38th Infantry ‘We Clear’ Battalion (38IB) and Maasim Municipal Police Station welcomed two (2) former communist rebels after abandoning their armed struggle and returned to the folds of the
law in Barangay Nomoh, Maasim, Sarangani Province.

They formally surrendered on March 15, 2021 through the efforts of the Local Government of Maasim, Sarangani Province through the Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF ELCAC) of Maasim and the Community Support Program (CSP) Teams of 38IB. The former rebels turned-over one (1) shotgun and three (3) live ammunition during the simple turn-over ceremony held inside 38IB Headquarters. Lt. Col. Anhouvic Atilano, Commanding Officer of 38IB said that the former rebels were, exhausted and demoralized by the intensified military offensives against the Communist Terrorist Group.

Col. Eduardo Gubat, the 603rd Infantry (Persuader) Brigade Commander, commended the partnership of the Local Government Unit of Maasim and the CSP Teams of 38IB for their concerted efforts to convince the two (2) former rebels to surrender.
