TACLOBAN CITY, Feb. 1 (PIA) -- The 14th Infantry Battalion conducted on January 31, the inauguration and blessing of the Avenger Multi-Purpose Hall, Cooperative, and Youth and Barangay Affairs Office, a tangible manifestation of its trusts to secure and ensure the welfare and safety of the youth and the barangays within its area of responsibility.

With this development, Lt. Col. Roberto Obaob said, the Avenger Troopers hope to assist and support more the Youth and Punong Barangays as “we unitedly pursue our goal of ending the local communist armed conflict in Leyte and Southern Leyte.”

Obaob added that the development came after 245 days since Avenger Battalion transferred to this new Headquarters.

“The unit is very grateful for the support from the Provincial Governments of Leyte and Southern Leyte and the Municipal Government of Mahaplag,” Obaob added.

Fr. Melvin T. Insegni, the Parish Priest of Abuyog, Leyte, presided over the Holy Mass, Inauguration and Blessing of Avenger Multi-purpose Hall, Cooperative, Youth and Barangay Affairs Office at Headquarters, 14IB, Brgy. Uguis, Mahaplag, Leyte on January 31, 2021.

The building is part of the camp development of the 14IB which was realized through the active support of the following stakeholders: Provincial LGU of Leyte and Southern Leyte; LGU of Mahaplag; Blue Sapphire Aggregates, Construction and Supply Inc.; 5th Engineering District, DPWH Region VIII; Mac Builders; Energy Development Corporation Leyte; and the people of Leyte and Southern Leyte.

The activity was participated in by Hon. Gomercindo W. Ramos Jr., Punong Barangay of Brgy. Mabunga, Mahaplag, Leyte who is the President of Avenger Resilient Punong Barangays of Leyte - Chapter I; Hon. Marjun L. Malupa, Punong Barangay of Brgy. Hitudpan, Hilongos, Leyte who is the President of Avenger Resilient Punong Barangays of Leyte - Chapter II; Mr. Jan Rex Yunzal, LYDO/CTEC/PESO Manager of Mahaplag, Leyte; Hon. Joy Fin V. Gesulga, President, Youth For Peace, Southern Leyte Chapter; Hon. Jose T. Amarado II, SK Federation President of Mahaplag, Leyte and Vice President, Avenger Youth For Peace Council; Hon. Kimverly G. Kapusuran who is the President of Avenger Youth For Peace, Bontoc Chapter; other officers and members of Avenger Youth For Peace Council; and personnel of the 14th Infantry (AVENGER) Battalion.
