Kalinaw News: Top Ranking CPP-NPA Members, Guerilla Front Secretaries, annonced allegiance to the Government

Posted to Kalinaw News (Jan 14, 2021): Top Ranking CPP-NPA Members, Guerilla Front Secretaries, annonced allegiance to the Government

DAVAO CITY – It was a happy 2021 indeed for the (11) former rebels as they denounced their links with the CPP-NPA-NDF, and started a new life in their renewed perspective and doctrines to live alongside the Philippine government.

Promises of good life -in the means of engaging into humanitarian activities, peace building efforts, poverty alleviation schemes, etc – all were just broken by their comrades and high ranking officials which discouraged these former rebels to continue their plight with the organization.

Most of them served for more than 10 or 20 years and have seen enough pictures that paved the way for leaving their group. For alyas ‘Junjun’ he was disheartened by the mere fact that children, supposedly cared and protected, were made collateral of the inhumane practices within their community.

“Sakit paminawon nga ang usa ka bata walay labot sa gubat ug wala siya kabalo unsay gubat. Bata nga naligo sa iyang sariling dugo, sa Barangay Bantuyan Caraga, looy kayo ang bata, overkilled pa gyud”

(It is disheartening to see an innocent child who hasn’t any knowledge about this continuous insurgency lying in his own blood after being killed, actually overkilled, by our own) says Junjun.

The horrific tragedy pushed Junjun and some of his companions to jump out from the ‘intoxicating environment’ they came in. After she surrendered and went back to their home, episodes of adjustments occured which later on were accepted by her other loved ones.

“Sa dugay nga panahon nga wala nako matagamtaman mao ang pag-uban sa pamilya. Although usa ako ka inahan duna koy duha ka anak. FIrst time nga nauban na nako ako duha ka anak ug ang akong bana sa pasko, ug mao nay wala nahatag ug wala natagamtaman sa pipila ka tuig ug first time pud nako nga nag new year uban ang akong pamilya”

(For a long time I haven’t experienced being with my family. I am a mother but I was not on hand in caring for my children. It was my first time that we are complete on special days, Christmas and New Year, that I didn’t experienced for a long time inside the group) she said although the government already gave her the assistance already to her family but the happiness she felt that was stolen on her for the past 11 years, was irreplaceable.

Because of the consistent efforts of various battalions of the army in their Community Support Program (CSP), in partnership with the local government units humanitarian actions on the region’s hinterlands, far flung areas where services are hard to deliver due to inaccessible road and other circumstances, made them (former rebels) opened their eyes to the genuine efforts of the government in reaching out to the people, not just by mere propaganda or word of mouth promises.

They added that their support in the government’s campaign to end insurgency is lifetime regardless of who is sitting in the administration.

Reducing of Guerilla fronts within Mindanao became a trend as GF33 now moved to extinction, followed by other fronts showing signs of manpower reduction.

The 11 former rebels will receive assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip) and will undergo a series of programs inside halfway homes.
