Posted to Kalinaw News (Jan 14, 2021): Army pursues NPA sighted in Talisay City

Sagay City, Negros Occidental— Troops of 79th Infantry (Masaligan) Battalion conducted security patrol at Hda. Ambulog, Brgy San Fernando, Talisay City, Negros Occidental on January 13, 2021 upon receiving reports on Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) presence in the area.

While approaching to a certain house where the said CNTs were sighted, two (2) unidentified CNTs hastily escaped leaving behind a 2-month old baby, their valuables and subversive documents with high intelligence value, including medical supplies, three (3) cellular phones, seven (7) phone batteries, one (1) Samsung powerbank, two (2) cellphone chargers, one (1) Gas stoves with five (5) butanes, food supplies and clothing.

The troops interviewed the owner of the house and revealed that a certain aka Jandy, the mother of the two-month old baby left her child to them and flea towards unknown direction.

Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Alvaran, Commanding Officer of 79IB extended his gratitude to the people who gave the information about the presence of the CNTs.

“Your continuous support by way of relaying an information about the presence of these rebels, contributes a lot in our fight against insurgency.”

“We are saddened about the 2-month old baby abandoned by her mother because of a senseless cause. Ka Jandy had a choice but she chose to leave her child and go against the government.

I urged Ka Jandy as well as the rest of the CNTs to lay down their arms, abandon the pointless armed struggle, return to the folds of the law and start a new life with their families. The government is willing to help them start anew”, Ltc Alvaran added.

The baby is now under the custody and care of the Talisay City social welfare and development office.
