DAVAO CITY, Jan. 06 (PIA) – A young pregnant former rebel received financial assistance from the provincial local government unit of Davao del Sur during the holiday season.
Former rebel alias “Chinchin”, 15, along with live-in partner alias “Jimbo”, 28, benefited from an P8,000.00 worth of financial assistance and grocery items handed by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office of Davao del Sur before the new year.
The two FRs surrendered to the 39th Infantry Battalion in Makilala, South Cotabato last December 25, 2020 through the help of barangay officials.
“Jimbo” was thankful for the assistance of the provincial government of Davao del Sur, and also for the help of the 39th IB which facilitated the medical check-up of his pregnant partner.
"Salamat pod kay Presidente tungod kay naa sya programa nga para kanamo nga nagbalik sa sabakan sa balaod para mag bag-ong kinabuhi (Thank you also to the President because of his program for us who returned to the fold of the law to have a new life),” “Jimbo” stated.
He encouraged those who are still in the mountains to surrender, saying that the government is willing to help and assist them of their needs.
In the efforts of ending insurgency, 39th IB Commander Ltc. Geoffrey Carandang said that the Army and the different government agencies are always ready to offer true programs and services, not just to attain peace and order, and also to help improve the economy. (PIA-XI/Samantha Jabol/39th IB)
