The three are all followers of ASG sub-leader Pasil Bayali alias Abu Kera.

Vinluan said the trio surrendered to Col. Domingo Gobway, commander of the 101st Infantry Brigade, and Lt. Col. Renante Besa, commander of the 64th Infantry Battalion in Sumisip, Basilan.

“This is an upshot of the Westmincom’s sustained conduct of focused, civil-military, and intelligence operations as well as the unwavering support to the implementation of the livelihood programs of the government,” the Army official said.

The ASG surrenderers were brought to headquarters of the 64th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Tumahubong, Sumisip, for custodial debriefing.

“We now have all the reasons to end our baseless fight against the government. They already settled the conflicts emanating from the ridos (blood feud), which forced us to join them (Abu Sayyaf),” Omar was quoted as saying in vernacular.

Meanwhile, Gobway assured they will assist the former Abu Sayyaf members reintegrate into society through the livelihood programs.
