PASIG CITY, Oct. 29 (PIA) – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) recognized the designers and builders of emergency quarantine facilities in the AFP.
AFP chief of staff General Gilbert Gapay on Wednesday presented a plaque of appreciation to Architect William Tan Ti Jr., Principal Architect of WTA Architecture and Design Studio at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
The AFP chief expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Architect Ti for his efforts and initiating a partnership with the AFP. Architect Ti’s efforts exemplified the Bayanihan Spirit and the positive outcome of public-private partnerships, especially during this trying time in the country.
“As we continue to fight the effects of this pandemic that has disrupted and changed our lives, the AFP shall be eternally grateful and honored for the opportunity to be in close cooperation and collaboration with organizations and institutions with similar aspirations of confronting this problem and coming up with solutions from a multi-sector perspective,” General Gapay said.
According to AFP, WTA Architecture and Design Studio is the lead company that designed and initiated the construction of emergency quarantine facilities (EQF) in military camps and government health institutions. Through their cooperation with the AFP’s engineering units led by The Chief Engineer, AFP Major General William Ilagan, they were able to complete and construct a total of 75 EQFs across Mega Manila.
Among the beneficiaries of these EQFs include AFP hospitals, such as V. Luna General Hospital, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo Station Hospital, Philippine Air Force General Hospital, Manila Naval Hospital, Cavite Naval Hospital, Army General Hospital, and Fernando Airbase Hospital.
The facilities can house at least 15 patients and can be completed within five days also alleviated the burden of healthcare workers and AFP’s frontliners. (AFP/PIA-NCR)
