MARAWI CITY, Sep. 11 (PIA) -- The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic did not hinder the government agencies under Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) in continuing the construction of large-scale infrastructure projects as part of rehabilitation efforts for this city.
TFBM Chairman and Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Eduardo del Rosario told lawmakers during the hearing of the department’s 2021 budget that massive rehabilitation in the city is ongoing.
“In the most affected areas where there are a number of structures and public infrastructure that's being constructed, the construction is ongoing and more will follow within the month or by next month," del Rosario said.
The chairman also assured that the rehabilitation of the city will be completed by December of 2021.
Meanwhile, TFBM Field Office Manager Assistant Secretary Felix Castro Jr, conducted an ocular inspection on various rehabilitation projects inside the city’s most affected area.

The local government of Marawi City continues the construction of Peace Memorial Park, Marawi Museum, School Living Tradition, Grand Padian Market and barangay complexes in South Madaya, Lumbaca Madaya, Dansalan, Datu Naga, West Marinaut, Sangcay Dansalan, Moncado Kadingilan and Tolali.
In a related development, the Department of Education in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Highways also boosted the construction of the four-storey integrated school building in Barangay Moncado Kadingilan.
The National Housing Authority also kicked off the implementation of the road networks project inside the MAA.
Outside MAA, construction of Marawi City Jail, permanent shelters, transitory shelters, Salintubig Water Reservoir, Police station, transcentral roads are also ongoing.

“Napakarami ang nagtatrabaho ngayon at yung different projects ay sabay-sabay. Nakikita natin na aabot tayo sa ating target,” said Castro.
[A lot of personnel have been working already and the different projects are simultaneously constructed. We can see that we can achieve the target.]
Castro also said that an ID system is being implemented for the construction workers issued with health certificates to ensure that only authorized personnel can enter MAA. He also emphasized that the health protocols against COVID-19 are also followed.
“Sinusunod ang protocols ng IATF. May health certificate sila at hindi sila lumalabas. As much as possible, sinesecure ang area,” he added.
[We are following the protocols imposed by IATF. They have health certificates and they do not go out from MAA. As much as possible, the area is being secured.]
