SAN JOSE, Antique, Sept. 12 (PIA) - - The Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist and Armed Conflict (TF-ELCAC) of Antique and the Municipal Government of San Remigio conducted a community visit recently in barangay Bulanbulan, an upland community in San Remigio, Antique.
In Compliance to EO 70 that provides for a whole-of-nation approach to ELCAC, the Task Force's Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and TESDA 6 Regional Director Gaspar Gayona assures the people of Bulanbulan, San Remigio, Antique that the government is committed to help everyone including those in the uplands and hard to reach communities.
Employment Cluster led by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) organized a community profiling and outreach program in the said barangay.
Aside from the issue on road accessibility, support to livelihood, education and health are other concerns of the community.
San Remigio mayor Mar Mission, during the program, said "gone are days where politicians only visit the barangay during election time."
His administration will bring in services to the people who need it most, and one of his priorities is the upland barangays, he said.
In partnership with the Provincial Government led by Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao, the Rural Health Unit, conducted the medical mission in the area.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Larry Petinglay, also a native of San Remigio, enlisted the residents who are in crisis under the program Aid to Individual in Crisis Situation, including the Senior Citizens with age 85 years and above, under the program Pag-ulikid kang Gobernadora kay Lolo kag Lola.

Petinglay also turned over food packs to some residents of Bulanbulan and neighboring Barangay Alegria. Also, during the community visit, Arn Granada of Philippine Carabao Center, Department of Agriculture, identified the area in Bulanbulan as conducive for pasture of cattle and carabaos, and committed to provide napier grass for forage of the said livestock.
The TF-ELCAC Strategic Communication Cluster led by Philippine Information Agency is also present during the visit which facilitated the program and community profiling.
On the other hand, the residents expressed thanks to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for establishing a footbridge under the KALAHI program which keeps them safe when traversing a strong current before they can enter the barangay proper.
The team was also in gratitude to the Philippine National Police, Philippine Army, Barangay and Municipal Officials of San Remigio and other peacekeeping authorities for making the travel and the event safe.
Other agencies present during the event are, DOLE Head Melisa Navarra, DILG Provincial Director Cherryl Tacda, TESDA Provincial Director Rick Abraham, representatives of DSWD, DTI, DENR, NIA, DPWH, BFP and the employees and officials of the Municipal Government of San Remigio. (JBG/psm/pia-Antique)
