Seven loose firearms turned-over to Phil Army

MAROGONG, Lanao del Sur, Sep 25 - A total of seven (7) assorted loose firearms were turned-over by the local government of this municipality to the 103rd Infantry Brigade.

The firearms include one (1) caliber 50 Sniper Rifle, one caliber 5.56 Rifle, one caliber 30 M1 Carbine, and four (4) caliber 30 garand rifle.

"We fully support the campaign of the national government against loose firearms. We want our town to be peaceful and progressive," said Marogong Mayor Nassif B. Maruhom.

Col. Jose Maria R Cuerpo II, 103rd Brigade Commander, said the collaborative efforts of the troops, police, and local government units led to the voluntary turn-over of firearms by the local folks.

"We expect a continuous turnover of loose firearms in the province and as a consequence, reduction of terrorist atrocities and illegal activities," he said.

The turnover of loose firearms was facilitated by the 55th infantry Battalion.

LtCol. Franco Raphael H. Alano, 55th Infantry Battalion Commander, a representative of Municipal Police Station, and some barangay officials also attended the said turn over ceremony. (103rd Bde)
