BAGGAO, Cagayan, Sept. 29 (PIA) — The Cagayan Police Provincial Office in collaboration with the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency-Regional Office 2 conducted today a ‘Bayanihan sa Barangay’ activity at barangay Sta. Margarita in Baggao town.

The ‘Bayanihan sa Barangay’ aims to strengthen the partnership between the police and the stakeholders by bringing the services to the people in the remotest areas especially those insurgecy inflicted area, and letting them feel that the government cares for their welfare by embracing the spirit of 'Bayanihan'.

Activities conducted during the whole-day event were: lecture on General Orientation on Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) program by the NICA-RO2; livelihood training on basket weaving facilitated by Ma. Theresa R. Sabugal, Baggao OTOP point person; blessing of Mini-library; turn-over of 200 books; and gift giving from CPPO.


Mayor Joan Dunuan, in her welcome remarks, extended her sincere gratitude to the proponents of said activity and assured the residents of barangay Sta. Margarita continuous support from the government through implementation of projects in response to the whole-of-nation-approach.

During the event, former rebel alias ‘Ka Jerry’ also shared his experience when he was still an active member of New People's Army (NPA).

Alias 'Ka Jerry' said Communist Terrorist Group deceptive act will make the lives of those joining them miserable as he had experienced and discouraged the community community to support them and denounce their unlawful acts.

On the other hand, NICA Regional Director Harold Nacional expressed his gratitude to the community’s participation on the said activity.

Nacional urged them to unite as one community and support the thrust of the government in attaining a peaceful, safe and harmonized country.

PLt. Col. Ramon Macarubbo who represented CPPO Provincial Director PCol Ariel N. Quilang also assured the community folks that ‘no one is left behind’ in the implementaion of all the plans and programs of the Cagayan PPO and the Philippine National Police as a whole. (MDCT/PIA-2)
