A suspected member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested in Barangay Binobohan, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

Porferio “Peryong” Landesa, allegedly a member of the NPA’s Local Guerilla Unit Central Negros 1-Kometing Rehiyon-Negros Cebu Bohol Siquijor, was served with arrest warrants on Aug. 6
by soldiers of the Philippine Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion (94IB) and 62nd Infantry Battalion (62IB).

Lieutenant Colonel Melvin Flores, 62IB acting commander, said government troops proceeded to Sitio Agpapatao, Barangay Binobohan after having been informed by residents of the NPA’s presence there, resulting to Landesa’s arrest.



Landesa had three standing arrest warrants for the murder of a Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) member back in 2018 as well as charges involving illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

Authorities recovered a .38-caliber revolver with 13 live ammunition from Landesa, and personal belongings which included a shirt with NPA markings.

Landesa was detained in the Guihulngan City police station lockup cell.
