MAGPET, COTABATO – Philippine Army’s 72nd Infantry Battalion (72IB) hosted the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) of the Provincial Task Force on Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) conducted meeting under the new normal on Thursday, June 4, 2020.
The meeting was held at Headquarters 72IB, Barangay Pangao-an, Magpet, Cotabato. Heads and Representatives of Agencies were present during the meeting. Among the agencies present are Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Cotabato, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department Of Education (DEPED), Landbank of the Philippines (LBP), National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP), National Irrigation Administration (NIA), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Provincial Office, Department of Agriculture (DA), Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Army’s 72nd Infantry Battalion, 19th Infantry Battalion and 27th Infantry Battalion.
During the meeting, Lt. Col. Rey Alvarado, Commanding Officer of 72IB, presented the current Community Support Program Deployment of the Unit. He also stressed out the sustainment efforts of the unit with regard to the People’s Organization within the unit’s Area of Operation. On the other hand, Mr. Rafael Y. Abrogar II, Regional Director, TESDA 12 presided the meeting and discussed the TESDA’s I-PEACE Program. I-PEACE is a project of TESDA where convergence of of different government agencies to help indigenous people especially former rebels who returned back into the folds of the law. This convergence will help them sustain their livelihood keeping them away from Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) influence.
Lt. Col. Rey Alvarado, Commanding Officer 72IB, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for choosing the Headquarters of the Army unit as a venue for the meeting the PTF-ELCAC Cluster. “We are in full support to the advocacy of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood, and Employment Cluster of the PTF-ELCAC especially the I-PEACE Program of TESDA,” he said.
