TACLOBAN CITY, June 6 (PIA) -- Municipal Task Force -ELCAC’s Retooled Community Service Program is welcomed by the eight barangay chairpersons in Basey, Samar namely, Barangays Loog, Mabini, Cogon, Cancaiyas, Guirang, Burgos, Bulao and Manlilinab.

In a simple send-off rites held on June 1, the barangay chairpersons warmly welcomed the RCSP teams from the 63rd Infantry Battalion assigned in their respective barangays.

Mr. Balbino Estorninos, the Municipal Administrator who represented Mayor Luz Ponferrada, delivered the message in her behalf.



He highlighted the positive impact of the program to the locals and communities as he experienced and seen from other recipient municipalities like Calbiga, Samar.

In his message, Estorninos reiterated the need to unite the efforts of all stakeholders in addressing the root causes of the of the long-drawn insurgency problem.

He then enjoined the Punong Barangays to support the program and continue to collaborate with other government agencies for the development of Basey.

Lt. Col. Edgar Allan Orbito, the Commanding Officer, extended his appreciation for the presence of and for signing the Certificate of Acceptance by the barangay chairpersons.

He gave them the assurance of the support of 63IB in bridging their concerns to the different government agencies of the province for the program’s implementation success.

He added that MTF-ELCAC through the RCSP Teams will play an important role in finally ending the communist armed conflict.

By immersing in the conflict-affected areas (CAAs), it is hoped that the people’s sentiments and issues will be addressed through the RCSP, with the LGU as lead, Orbito said.

As part of President Rodrigo Duterte’s Whole-of-Nation Approach, RCSP aims to address the identified issues of the community by closing the governance and development gaps, providing the community their needs, and ensuring that development is sustained and peace is promoted. (PIA-8)
