The young CNT fighter was identified as certain “Ka Ayong,” 21, a member of Sangay Yunit Propaganda 16-B (SYP 16-B) of Guerilla Front 16 (GF16) of the CPP-NPA Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) under “Kumander Jerric”. 2nd Lt. De Dios said. “Ka Ayong” fled the camp allegedly because of abuses committed by their leader.
Since January, 2020, three other CNTs decided to return to the folds of law and surrendered five high powered firearms.
Lt. Col. Ryan Charles G. Callanta, 30th IB commander, urged the remaining CNTs to avail of the government’s peace and development program.
“The 30th IB and the provincial government of Surigao del Norte will do our share in keeping the peace in the province and we assure the security of the remaining CNT members who wants to lay down their arms and embrace the path of peace and avail of the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program or ECLIP, in order to reunite with their families and start a new and brighter future without fear and intimidation,” Callanta said.
“Ka Ayong” will undergo custodial and stress debriefing prior to his enrollment in the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program.
