From the Philippine Daily Inquirer (May 25, 2020): Military says arms cache found in Bulacan NPA hideout (By: Tonette Orejas)
The military said soldiers seized two Armalite rifles in a supposed hideout in Bulacan province of New People’s Army (NPA) rebels operating in Southern Luzon.
Soldiers and policemen found four magazines and ammunition for assault rifles at a house of an alleged communist cadre at the village of Paradise III, San Jose del Monte City last May 22.
The seized items were believed to belong to the Rizal-Bulacan Guerrilla Front of the NPA Southern Tagalog, according to Col. Felix Valdez, 48th Infantry Battalion commander, in a statement.
A concerned citizen tipped off law enforcers that led to the discovery of the cache.
Soldiers and policemen operated under the Peace, Law Enforcement and Development Support cluster of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.
Valdez said while police and soldiers are on the frontline of enforcing protocols for COVID-19, “we are also continuing efforts to end insurgency.”
