From GMA News (May 25, 2020): Two suspected BIFF members killed in Maguindanao encounter

Two suspected Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) members were killed in an encounter with the troops of 33rd Infantry Battalion of Joint Task Force Central in Maguindanao, according to a statement issued by the 6th Infantry Division.

The BIFF members reportedly fired at the troops manning the checkpoint at Barangay Tuka, Mamasapano in Maguindanao
prompting soldiers to return fire.

The encounter ensued for around 20 minutes until troops closed in on the rebels leading to the recovery of two bodies, two M16 rifles, and a sachet of suspected illegal drugs.
The slain BIFF members were identified as Asraf Kalon and Mubin Sugadol.


Authorities are conducting a manhunt operation for one of their companions who escaped.

The bodies of the slain rebels and the other recovered items have been turned over to the Mamasapano Municipal Police for further investigation and proper disposition.
