CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental– the 58th Infantry ‘Dimalulupig’ Battalion in partnership with the Minergy Power Corporation (MPC) formally opened the Special CAFGU Active Auxiliary Company II (CAAC-II) training composed of 100 candidates at Brgy Mandangoa, Balingasag, Misamis Oriental yesterday, 20 May 2020.

The said activity is part of the implementation of Executive Order No.70 (EO70) which exhibits the active participation of all sectors of society in the pursuit of the country’s peace agenda.

The activity was opened with Lt. Col. Ricky L Canatoy, the Commanding Officer of 58IB as the Keynote Speaker, 4th Division Training School (4DTS) headed by Maj Latris, and MPC headed by Mr Gaudencio C Bascon Jr.,Station Manager.

The main purpose of said activity is to develop and hone skills of the aspirant CAA applicants into a professional peace partner of the province of Misamis Oriental. It will also serve as ready reserve force for the 4th Infantry ‘Diamond’ Division in providing security services while combating COVID-19 Pandemic.

The training will take 45 days of rigid military training to develop their physical abilities and skills needed for them to serve.

Moreover, the candidates had already undergone the required Physical and Medical Examination facilitated by the MPC-BPS to determine their military readiness.

In his statement, Lt. Col. Ricky L Canatoy, Commanding Officer of 58IB said, “The Army is very confident that we can achieve our mission thru the support and assistance of other agencies. This activity is a concrete example of the whole-of-nation approach that our government had implemented to attain inclusive and sustainable peace, and this would not be successful without the support of our partners from MPC. Thank you for your continuing support to the 58IB in reaching communities including the far-flung areas.”

Aside from the training, the MPC have various livelihood projects intended for the Conflict Affected Areas (ConAAs) and the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs).

Lt. Col. Canatoy also expressed the strong commitment of the Army’s 58IB in support to implementation of E.O. 70 and intensify their campaign to engage with the civilian populace in partnership with the national government agencies, local government units and various sectors of civil society.
