CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – the Communist NPA Terrorist’s North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) is believed to have been wiped out in a 5-day armed clashes against the troops of 401st Infantry “Unite n Fight” Brigade under the 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division of the Philippine Army in the uninhabited areas of Andap Valley complex in Surigao del Sur province on May 14-19, 2020.

The series of clashes begun after 4ID forces launched its security operations in response to reports from local folks of a large consolidation of NEMRC forces threatening their ancestral community. As widely documented, history is replete with NPA atrocities in the area against IPs, women and minors prompting the 4ID to conduct focus military operation to prevent another terror plan by the CNTs.

This plan involves tactical offensive to kill IP leaders unsupportive to their ideologies as well as the recruitment of adventure seeking minors to sustain their terroristic schemes of murders, robberies and extortion. Furthermore, said consolidation was clearly postured to conduct atrocities during distribution of relief goods and social amelioration programs of the government to ease the people’s suffering caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

An analysis of the volume of items recovered that include personal belongings, food supplies, war materiel and electronic equipment are material evidences of the impending terror plot by the CNTs. Importantly, the capture of the two (2) laptops and overhead projector after the encounter provide information of the criminal activities of NEMRC. Said electronic equipment were believed to be owned and used by Myrna Sularte aka “Malaya”, the Secretary of NEMRC, and Alvin Loque aka “Joaquin Jacinto”, the spokesperson of National Democratic Front (NDF) Komisyon Mindanao (KOMMID).

Further, revelations and statements of former rebels point that a planning session was participated in by prominent communist leaders of Caraga region, as follows: 1) Myrna Sularte aka “Malaya”, the Secretary of NEMRC; 2) Alvin Loque aka “Joaquin Jacinto”, the spokesperson of National Democratic Front (NDF) Komisyon Mindanao (KOMMID); 3) Edilberto R Daval aka “Bong Waco”, CO of Regional Operations Command (ROC), NEMRC; 4) Felizardo Valdez aka “Adu” or “Jing”, Secretary of Sub-Regional Committee Southland and also acted as the spokesperson of NEMRC; 5) Julieta Tawide Gomez aka “Tina”, Secretary of Regional White Area Committee (RWAC), NEMRC; 6) Rolando Leyson, Secretary of Sub-Regional Committee (SRC)-16 and also acted as CO of Hini-usang Command, NEMRC; 7) Judel Virtudazo aka “Janjalani”, CO of Regional Sentro-De-Gravidad (RSDG), NEMRC; 8) Imelda Rambuyod aka “Sandara Sidlakan” or “Aloy” or “Kubing”, the 1st Deputy Secretary and spokesperson of SRC Westland; 9) Adonis Maglasang aka “Do”, the Head Organizing Department/Pers of NEMRC; 10) Marcelino Navarro aka “Marsing”, the Head Propaganda of NEMRC; 11) aka “Tarzan”, the CO/Head Ordnance of NEMRC; 12) Pablo Logatiman aka “Lucas”, the 1st Deputy Secretary of SRC-16, NEMRC; 13) aka “Del”, CO of Sub-Regional Sentro-De-Gravidad (SRSDG), SRC Westland, NEMRC; 14) aka “Rodel”, Secretary of Weakened Guerilla Front (WGF)-21, NEMRC; 15) aka “Jared” or “Wolf”, Ordnance Staff of SDG-16, GF-16, NEMRC; 16) Vergie Valdez aka “Dalay”, Finance Officer of GF-19, NEMRC; 17) Leonida Sanchez aka “Susay”, Staff of GF-19, NEMRC; 18) Elizabeth Monter aka “Amihan”, Political Officer and acted as spokesperson of GF-19, NEMRC; 19) Alfie Masinatao Basa aka “Momoy”, the Vice CO of Regional Headquarters (RHQ), NEMRC; and 20) Lorna Pamutongan Gomez aka “Momay” or “Danah”, the Medical Staff of RHQ, NEMRC.

These wanted terrorists and a number of their cohorts were believed to have been killed or severely wounded after the series of clashes against our security forces as heavy bloodstains are scattered along the CNT’s direction of withdrawal.

The latest report from the field of the ongoing security operations that include the complementary operations initiated by 36th Infantry “Valor” Battalion under 402nd Infantry “Stingers” Brigade cites the following;11 NPAs killed, the capture of 5 firearms, 2 laptops, 1 overhead projector, flash drives, external hard drives, 2 anti-personnel mines, 100-meter detonating cords, hand grenades, bandoleers, assorted ammunition and magazines, handheld radios, personal belongings, assorted food and medical supplies, and subversive documents with high tactical value.

Operating troops continue to clear several encounter sites wherein the rugged terrain and inclement weather slows the process particularly the retrieval of ten (10) CNT casualties. Meanwhile, one (1) unidentified CNT cadaver found at the hinterland area of Sitio Kiskis, Brgy Siagao, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur was turned over by the operating troops to LGU San Miguel for identification and proper disposition.

MGen Franco Nemesio M Gacal, the 4ID Chief, expressed confidence on the impending decimation of NEMRC. “Considering the losses suffered by these terrorists, the collapse of NEMRC is imminent. They were wrong to consider Andap Valley complex a safe haven. The government has offered its peace through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP). Those who are still surviving should take advantage of this before it’s too late.” Gacal stressed.

“Don’t be insistent of your wrong doing. Grab the chance to change and truly contribute to nation building.” Gacal ended.
