CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – The peace-loving people of Cagayan de Oro City happily celebrated with the 4th Infantry “DIAMOND” Division, Philippine Army during the opening ceremony of its Static/Kinetic Display and Peace Concert earlier this morning January 18, 2020 at the Activity Center, Ayala Malls – Centrio, Cagayan de Oro City.
The opening started with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting headed by MGen Franco Nemesio Gacal, Commander of 4ID together Col Expedito Biña, Security Manager of Ayala Malls – Centrio, Dir. Mylah Faye Aurora Cariño, NEDA X and other officers, enlisted personnel and the mall-goers.
The activity is a 2-day event from January 18-19, 2020 which showcased the 4ID through the years photo exhibit and display of uniforms, capability demonstrations, different booths displaying military armaments, weapons and giving free services, outdoor activities and was highlighted with the Philippine Army Parade of Uniforms which features the different military uniforms worn on different events and occasions.
Alexa, 20-year old, a college student in Cagayan de Oro City said, “I am very excited and amazed with the activity. Especially with the parade of uniforms I saw the different uniforms used by the soldiers and realized that they have different attires for every activity.”
MGen Gacal emphasized, “This celebration is our humble way of honoring our soldiers whose grit and determination were instrumental in securing and preserving peace in this part of our country. We take part in showcasing in this 2-days event the evolution of the Division through the years.” “Our success in the past 5 decades is also because of the citizens of Northern Mindanao and Caraga Region which is why we want to share our Founding Anniversary with you who are integral part of our journey then and now,” Gacal ended
