CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – A warm welcome greeted the new Commanding General of the Philippine Army LtGen Gilbert I Gapay as he visited Camp Evangelista, 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division, Philippine Army, this afternoon January 17, 2020.
LtGen Gapay together with the General Staff Officers and personnel from Headquarters Philippine Army were received by MGen Franco Nemesio Gacal, Commander, 4ID together with the Brigade and Battalion Commanders, Staff, Officers and personnel of the Cagayan de Oro based Division.
MGen Gacal presented to LtGen Gapay the gains and accomplishments of the Division in 2019.
In his message LtGen Gapay expressed, “I commend 4ID for your significant and laudable accomplishments in 2019. You are a pioneer in implementing EO 70 which is very commendable.” “We know and see that we have gaps and limitations but despite that 4ID delivered service beyond expectation.”
After his talk with the Diamond troopers, LtGen Gapay happily visited the different booths around the “Barrio PEACE-TA sa Kampo 2020” which features the different tourists spots and local products of Northern Mindanao and Caraga Regions as part of the celebration of 4ID’s 50th Founding Anniversary.
MGen Gacal also said, “The 4th ID is happy and honored to welcome LtGen Gapay for his first but definitely not the last visit as our new Commanding General of the Philippine Army. His visit is very timely for we were able to show our Barrio PEACE-TA as part of the Golden Founding Anniversary of the Division.” “We know and believe that through his leadership and guidance he will steer the Army to greater heights. 4ID will also work hard in order to support and follow his every command in upholding our mandate of “Serving the people and Securing the land,” Gacal ended
