Camp Kangleon, Palo, Leyte- The Police Regional Office 8 strongly condemns the treacherous attack of suspected Communists-Terrorist Group (NPAs) against the personnel of 1st Eastern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company (ESPMFC) based in Brgy. Lunang, Dolores, Eastern Samar also victimizing civilians including children around 3:00 o’clock this afternoon December 13, 2019 in Brgy. Libuton, Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

The troops were on board a PNP marked vehicle Hi-lux with Plate No. SJZ 958 traveling form 1st ESPMC Hqs heading towards Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office (ESPPO) Hqs and upon reaching at the place of fire perpetrated by suspected CTG (NPAs).

Said attack killed and wounded not only police personnel but also civilians. This only shows that this CTG (NPAs)s spares no one just to pursue their terroristic deeds against government forces.

As of this writing, confirmed 1 Killed-in-Police Operation (KIPO) Pat Mark Jerome Rama, 4 Wounded-in-Police Operation (WIPOs) namely: Pat Ric Capoquian Jr., Pat Kevin Operario, Pat Angelito Luterte and Pat Rey Sobrepeña and 2 unharmed on the government side Pat Christian Godino and Pat Michael Frank Pajanustan. While civilians on board 2 tricycles and 1 L300 Van passing by the place of incident were disregarded and fired upon resulting to the wounded of 12 civilians (including 3 minors) and killing 1 civilian.

EOD Team of ESPPO immediately conducted post blast investigation at the crime scene.

“This attack is so unfortunate considering that Christmas is fast approaching and more so that we have casualties and wounded among our troops and the civilians alike. The whole PNP is condemning such atrocious act,”PBGEN FERDINAND O DIVINA, Regional Director stated.
