The annual "Kaagapay ng mga Mandirigma ng Dagat" (KAMANDAG) 3 amphibious exercise will formally start at the Subic Bay International Airport, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Olongapo City on Wednesday.
Capt. Felix Serapio, Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) spokesperson, on Tuesday said KAMANDAG is a Philippine-led military exercise with the United States.
He said Northern Luzon Command head, Lt. Gen. Ramiro Rey will be the guest-of-honor and speaker for the opening ceremonies of KAMANDAG 3 which will run from October 9 to 18.
He added that four of the eight newly-acquired amphibious assault vehicles will also participate in the exercises.
These vehicles were delivered in May and August of this year to the PMC.
"KAMANDAG" could be translated in English as "cooperation of seaborne warriors".
The PMC spokesperson said the highlights of "KAMANDAG" are the amphibious exercise which will take place on October 12 at the Marine Barracks Gregorio Lim, Ternate Cavite and final exercise, involving the firing of artillery and tank weapons, at the Col. Ernesto Rabina Air Base, in Capas, Tarlac on October 17.
Closing ceremonies will be held at the Marine Base Rudiardo Brown, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on October 18.
