Posted to the Western Mindanao Command (WESTMINCOM) Website (Sep 2, 2019): Speedboat funded by ARMM for WestMinCom’s ops
Basilan Congressman Mujiv Hataman yesterday turned over a speedboat funded by the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao for Western Mindanao Command’s operations in the area.
WestMinCom Commander Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana received from former ARMM Governor Hataman the keys and manuals of the speedboat.
The ARMM will turn over four more speedboats, as additional naval capability, to the Joint Task Forces Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Central.
“The ARMM allotted Php30 million to procure five speedboats for the Joint Task Forces of the WestMinCom. It’s a small deed to repay the AFP for all its hard work and perseverance to secure Mindanao,” said Congressman Hataman.
The speedboats will be utilized by the Joint Task Forces in their maritime interdiction, border patrol, and transport and strategic insertion of troops in their operational environment.
“We are very much grateful to the ARMM, represented by Congressman Hataman. With him (Hataman) sitting in Congress, I know more help will be extended to the armed forces in as far as capability buildup and other matters within the grasp of the WestMinCom are concerned,” said Lt. Gen. Sobejana.
Military officials witnessed the blessing of said speedboat by WestMinCom’s Command Chaplain Colonel Sanuan Akkuh and Post Command Chaplain Lt. Col. Reynaldo Narisma,
The turnover was held at the WestMinCom Grandstand in Camp Navarro at 7am yesterday, September 1.
