Insurgency actionplan set – Lacson

From the Visayan Daily Star (Jul 27, 2019): Insurgency actionplan set – Lacson

Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu, the Cabinet member assigned to Western Visayas, has asked Negros Occidental officials to come up with an action plan on how to help end the insurgency problem in the province, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said yesterday.

Cimatu met with the Western Visayas officials in Iloilo Thursday to discuss environment and insurgency concerns, the governor said.

Cimatu’s call for an action plan to end the insurgency problem in Negros Occidental, does not mean an all-out war, but finding ways on how local government units can contribute to solutions, Lacson added.

Lacson said next month a meeting will be held with Negros Occidental local government officials to come up with the action plan.

Cimatu said he will come to Negros Occidental in September, Lacson said, adding that that is when they will present their action plan to him.

Lacson also said the series of killings in Negros Oriental are sad, and he is sure the Negros Oriental officials are alarmed and finding ways to resolve the problem.
