The arrival of more troops in Negros also led to changes of leadership among the newly-arrived 11th Infantry Battalion in Negros Oriental, and 47th Infantry Battalion, that are both under the supervision of the Army’s 302nd Infantry Brigade.

Lt. Col. Ramir Redosendo is the new commander of the 11th Infantry Battalion, the troopers of which are presently undergoing re-orientation training at Camp Leon Kilat in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.

Redosendo, former 47IB commander in Bohol, swapped positions with Lt. Col. Carlo Ferrer, whom he succeeded as 11IB commander, Brig. Gen. Ignacio Madriaga, 302nd Infantry Brigade commander, yesterday said.

The 302nd Infantry Brigade headquarters was returned to Negros Oriental, after more than two years in Bohol.

As soon as the 11IB troopers have completed their re-orientation on mission profile at Camp Leon Kilat, they will be deployed in still to be determined areas in Negros Oriental, Madriaga said.

The return of 11IB to Negros brought to five the number of Army infantry battalions deployed in the island.

The deployment of more Army soldiers to Negros was in compliance with the order of President Rodrigo Duterte for state security forces to address violent activities of the New People’s Army, and accelerate the development of the island.

Madriaga said the Armed Forces of the Philippines is now refocusing its security efforts and peace and development campaign in Negros.

It will be a combined effort, that includes combat operations, clearing of insurgency-affected barangays, and pursuing localized peace talks, he added.
