From the Western Mindanao Command (WESTMINCOM) Website (Apr 5, 2019): Scout rangers engage Abu Sayyaf fighters in Sulu



Amid combat operations, troops of the 5th Scout Ranger Battalion encountered 50 Abu Sayyaf Group members under Hajan Sawadjaan in Sitio Atol, Barangay Latih, Patikul, Sulu at 6:50am today (April 5).

A heavy firefight ensued which resulted in the wounding of 13 rangers and the deaths of three others, while casualties on the enemy side are yet to be determined.

Firefight continues as of this report.
