Kalinaw News: Two (2) Young NPA Rebels, Surrender to 48 Infantry Battalion

Kalinaw News (Apr 29, 2019): Two (2) Young NPA Rebels, Surrender to 48 Infantry Battalion

Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – Two CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) voluntarily surrendered to the 48th Infantry (Guardians) Battalion at its headquarters, last Saturday.

The two surrenderees who were both 19 years old sought refuge from the Army with the help of the community.

According to the surrenderees, they joined the armed group when they were still minors after being recruited by the Anakbayan. They were later enticed to join Kabataang Makabayan, an underground organization of Anakbayan.

The disillusioned young rebels quit the armed struggle because of too much pressure and hardship in the organization. They said that they were lured by the leftist organizations to join the New People’s Army and took advantage of their curiosity and their youth. They left the armed group in December 2018.

Prior to their surrender, the two were on lie-low status and asked help from the local government of Pandi, Bulacan where they are from.

The two surrenderees will be provided with protection and will be assisted in their application for Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

Major General Lenard T Agustin AFP, Commander of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, expressed his gratitude to the local government of Pandi, Bulacan and his congratulatory message to the Community Support Team (CSP) of 48IB.

“The recent accomplishment of our troops in Bulacan can be accredited to the LGUs of Pandi. The surrender of the two young rebels is one of the results of their declaration of Persona Non Grata against the CTGs. This is what we have been waiting and wanting – that our stakeholders will be intentional in playing their role against Insurgency”, MGen Agustin said.

“We support the petition filed against the groups who are affiliated with the CPP-NPA. We don’t need to red tag or ‘black tag’ them. The individuals who have been surrendering to the government are enough proof that they were deceived by organizations supported by the party lists mentioned in the petition last April 26. Also, the National Democratic Front in Panay mentioned the left leaning groups in it’s statement so, need we say more? “, MGen Agustin added.

Brigadier General Rowen S Tolentino AFP, Commander of 703rd Infantry (Agila) Brigade said that the youth has been the target of CPP-NPA recruitment and has been very vulnerable to the false ideologies, promises and principles of communism, putting the lives of the future leaders in vain.

“The revelation of these young rebels is a clear evidence left leaning organizations lile Anakbayan or Kabataang Makabayan exploit young minds of our youth to join their armed struggle. Your Army will continue to protect the youth in many ways and prevent them to join organizations against the government”, said Lieutenant Colonel Felix Emeterio M Valdez , Acting Commanding Officer,
