A policeman was shot and killed on Monday morning by still unidentified gunmen in Pilar town in Sorsogon province, a police report said.

Victim Senior Police Officer 3 Juje Razo, 52, a member of Pilar town police, was ambushed by at least three gunmen believed to be New People’s Army (NPA) rebels while riding his motorcycle in Barangay (village) Marifoque at around 7:30 a.m., according to Chief Inspector Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson.


Calubaquib said the victim died instantly from multiple bullet wounds.

Police are hunting down the suspects who fled to neighboring villages as of Monday morning.
