From the Philippine News Agency (Jul 30): PN trains personnel to use Chinese-donated patrol boats
The Philippine Navy (PN) has already assigned personnel to undergo training on the operation and maintenance on the four patrol boats donated by the People's Republic of China.
This was bared by PN spokesperson Cmdr. Jonathan Zata in a message to reporters Sunday.
"The equipment provided are being assessed as to how this can be integrated within the organization and supported in the long-term in terms of logistics," Zata said.
"Likewise we have assigned personnel to train on its operation and maintenance," he added.
The one-week training of the above-mentioned PN personnel on the use of Chinese patrol boats was completed Monday, Defense spokesperson Arsenio Andolong said.
The four patrol boats, along with 30 units of 40mm grenade launchers, were received during the third week of July.
The items are part of a weapons grant from China to the Philippines worth USD14 million made in 2016.
The grant includes fast boats, drones, night vision goggles and communication equipment, among others.
