CAMP GEN GONZALO SIONGCO, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao (DWDD) – A total of 119 unlicensed firearms were surrendered by the local government of Midsayap in North Cotabato on April 26, 2018 at around 11:00a.m. as the AFP together with the local government units have intensified its campaign against loose firearms as part of the implementation of the Martial Law.





Mayor Romeo D. Araña of Midsayap led the turnover of firearms before the Army’s 602nd Infantry Brigade and 34th Infantry Battalion with Assistant Division Commander Brig. Gen. Cirilo Thomas P. Donato Jr of 6th Infantry Division and North Cotabato Governor Emmylou “Lala” Taliño-Mendoza held at 34th IB Headquarters in Brgy Salunayan in Midsayap.

The 63 high-powered and 56 low-powered firearms coming from the different baangays of the municipality were received by Brig. Gen. Donato, 34th IB Commander Lt. Col. Angelo C. Lutera, and 602nd Brigade Commander Col. Alfredo V. Rosario Jr.

Last April 19, Carmen town surrendered 102 loose firearms to the military, which is the first town in North Cotabato to yield unlicensed weapons.

As part of the intensified campaign against loose firearms, 6th ID Commander Maj. Gen. Arnel B. Dela Vega urged other municipalities of North Cotabato to also turn over their illegal firearms to make Central Mindanao a peaceful and gun-free community.

The campaign against loose firearms brought a total of 1,019 recovered and surrendered as of today in 6th ID’s area of jurisdiction. 6DPAO / MCAG
